George B. Salem
Founder and President

George B. Salem, founder and president of Proxsys, has more than 30 years experience in the health care industry with a track record of successfully building companies and management teams and raising capital.

From 1978 to 1995, Salem served in progressively responsible positions in health care including Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 1984, he co-founded and served as president of Southeast Health Plan, until its purchase by PCA Corporation.  In 1995, he founded and served as president and CEO of GuideStar Health Systems, Inc. until its purchase by Maven Corporation in 2003. 

Salem served on the Policy Coordinating Council for HIAA and served six years on the Board of American Managed Care and Review Association.  He serves on the boards of Birmingham Southern College, American Behavioral, and the University of Alabama in Birmingham Graduate School of Public Health.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Birmingham-Southern College, a Master of Business Administration from Samford University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
